Suffering alcoholism and addictions Kevin finally hit the bottom and tried to end it all with another attempt at suicide. It was August 1995. But this time God intervened and set his life on a different track. Normally one would not say getting arrested and threatened with hard time in jail was a Miracle from God --- but in Kevin’s case that was the truth. To avoid jail and a felony on his record he opted for rehab. Little did he know the plan God had for his life!
Once in rehab he was stripped of everything --- for the first time in a very long time --- God could reach him --- the noise in his head was stilled and when he couldn’t medicate the pain or run away --- God confronted him.
He grew up in a Christian home and first gave his life to Christ 1979 as a teen ager. Then he ran as far from God as he could --- now it was time for God to re-claim his life and set him straight. With a clear mind and a forgiven heart Kevin started going to church again and reading his Bible.
That’s when Susan came into Kevin’s life. Kevin describes it like this, “Then God blessed me with my wife Susan. She loved me and committed herself to me even though I didn’t deserve it. The love, grace and mercy that she continues to extend to me, is God given. Even today, it is a constant example of God’s influence in a life submitted.”
Kevin became active in AA and Alcoholics for Christ which he describes like this, “I have dedicated my talents, along with everything else I have, to Him. God continues to bless me and I am thankful. I have received my ordination and Pastor a recovery program called Oasis, a ministry of Metro South Church in Detroit, to help others who share my struggles.
I am also the Pastor for “Looking Up Ministries”, an Evangelical Christian Band and Mobile Church. I am completing a degree in Theology at Destiny Center for Biblical Studies. God is good and deserves all the glory and praise.”
Kevin is stepping out to South Africa to see what new adventure the Lord has for him as he continues to fulfill the plan God has for his life.
