Linda P.
Westland, Michigan
Married to Kevin P.
16 years
Occupation: Director of nursing - Four Chaplains Nursing Center
Linda was raised near a small town in Virginia. Her family owned a 40 acre farm in the mountains where Linda acquired a strong work ethic. Her dad farmed by day and was a lay minister at the local Methodist church when he wasn’t tending to fatherly duties.
Linda was fresh out of high school at 18 when the big city attracted her. Soon her Christian roots were history and the world offered the adventure missed in growing up.
Years later Linda moved to Detroit, Michigan and met Kevin. They struggled in their marriage at a time when Kevin was seeking pleasure from drugs and alcohol. With their life unraveling Linda reached for her roots and dragged Kevin to church. God was waiting for her return --- with her husband --- and November 25th, 2001 recommitted her life to Christ as Kevin found Christ. Needless to say life changed for Linda and Kevin and together they have built a steady foundation in the Lord.
Linda started nursing school where she could put her tremendous compassion for others to work. Soon she graduated as an RN with honors and started work as a station nurse. Her dedication, skills and Christian compassion have served her well as in just four years she has moved through the ranks to her current position --- Director of Nursing.
This is Linda's first trip to Africa, (influenced no doubt by her husbands’ enthusiasm when he returned from his first trip there in 2005). She looks forward to working with the HIV/AIDS Orphan's, helping to build a church that will be used for years to come and connecting with the people for Christ.
Linda desires to meet the people and learn the customs and culture of the Xhosa and Zulu. Her Christian compassion will be a welcomed attribute by the members of the team. Linda also desires to meet Shadrack N’tombela and hear his incredible testimony.
