THE STORY BEHIND “MY LAWYER”


Nineteen ordinary people from Minnesota with a heart to raise funds and give hope to the orphans and poor of India, found a moving way to do it through Film Evangelism. Rehearsing every weekend for over three months in America, the cast members then took a month away from their jobs and school to complete the filming in India. No one took any pay; in fact, they all paid their own expenses.

 

Filming in India provided many challenges! Limited budget meant limited props and limited ability to enhance the scenes. Generators used for powering the lights caused lighting to be unequal and flickering. Horns were honking, cows were mooing and children were squealing during the filming so all spoken words had to be dubbed at a sound studio miles away from the filming site, many days later.
 
Many of the cast faced grueling hours, intense heat, illness, and dangerous sets to bring this movie to you! Following are a few pictures which gives you an idea of what the experience was like for cast and crew.

We made all the scenes out of plywood, studs and a lot of paint. Our goal was to make the grounds of the Cold Springs Orphanage look like Minneapoils in the film.
 

  
Kristine Hultgren from Maple Grove, Minnesota plays Maggie and is the leading lady in the film. Here she receives scene coaching from Lanka Dass. Lanka is from Vijayawada, India and is the movies Producer, Music Director and original story writer.
 
 

  
Here Stepanie Pauline, from Farmington, Minnesota, who is Cecilia in the film, receives instructions from Gene Fourier the movies Director. Alex his son is the film Editior from Chanhassen, Minnesota. Stephanie wrote and sings the movie title track "Lost Cause."
 
 

  
Sean Rasinski from Minneapolis, Minnesota plays Daniel in the film. Here he receives insight from the films Director Gene Fournier.
 

  
Bridge scene with Kristina Hultgren as Maggie was shot from 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM over the river. Traffic was graciously re-routed.
 

  
Pastors Bill and Carol of Cambridge, Minnesota had a small part in the film. Here they are inviting Maggie to a picnic with their daughter Hannah played by Emily Fournier of Chanhassen, Minnesota.

  
Here is Maggie with the leading man Gaylen Morse of Chaska, Minnesota as Joe Sweeny the Lawyer.
 

 Here Grandma played by Joan Schommer from Prescott, Wisconsin corners Daniel played by Sean Rasinski from Minneapolis, Minnesota and his wife Mary played by Melissa Engel of Maple Grove, Minnesota. Mary's boyfriend looks on played by Adam Prdovich of Eagan, Minnesota.

All the actors had to take a five hour drive from the orphanage where we were shooting the film to Hydrabad near Ramoji City (Ballywood) to dub our lines. Here is Pastor Bill dubing his lines in the studio.
 

  
Here Director Lanka Dass from Vijayawada, India is surveying angles for the next scene.
 
The goal for the film is to raise funds to support the three orphanages of 165 children run by Lanka and provide for 250 Pastors through out India. Additionally Lanka desires to build a church close to the Vijayawada orphange and a hospital for the poor.
